UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has criticised Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip. He told reporters during the visit of Gaza, today that it caused unacceptable sufferings to human beings in the enclave. He added that Israeli policy of closure is not sustainable and that it's wrong.<br/><br/>Meanwhile UN West Asia Envoy George Mitchell is reaching West Asia region today to advance the idea of talks between Israel and Palestinians. His visit is taking place on the day when tension is running high in Palestinian area after two Palestinians have been killed by Israeli troops in the West Bank.<br/><br/>In a related development, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that all Israeli governments have maintained the same policy on building in East Jerusalem, and that he has informed the US administration in writing.<br/><br/>According to Israeli media Haaretz, speaking at the start of the weekly cabinet meeting Mr. Netanyahu added that he promised the Obama administration that Israel will make several goodwill gestures toward the Palestinians ahead of his trip to Washington tonight. For the first time since Gaza war, Israel has agreed to ease the blockade on the Gaza Strip. <br/><br/>Netanyahu has also agreed to discuss all core issues during the proximity talks, with the condition of reaching final conclusions only in direct talks with the Palestinian Authority. Netanyahu also agreed to release hundreds of Fatah-affiliated prisoners as a gesture to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
