UN calls for global help for Kyrgyzstan victims

<br/>The United Nations has announced a $20 million emergency appeal to help people affected by ethnic violence in southern Kyrgyzstan. The Interim leader of Kyrgyzstan has said that as many as two thousand people may have died in the violence, ten times more than previous estimates. <br/><br/>The United Nations has appeal other nations to help people affected by ethnic violence in southern Kyrgyzstan. <br/>The organisation says up to a million people may have been affected by the recent fighting in Kyrgyzstan. <br/>The UN agencies are calling for seventy million dollars in emergency funds. They say the main focus would be on food and shelter and hope the aid would last for at least six months. The Uzbek Government has asked the UN to launch a similar appeal for its own camps next week, having accepted tens of thousands of refugees. It says its own capacity to help the refugees will soon run out. <br/>
