The United Nations has launched its biggest ever natural disaster appeal for more than 1.4 billion dollars for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. It has urged countries to rush tents to Haiti to help protect more than one million people made homeless by January's earthquake. UN top official in Haiti, Edmond Mulet said funds will be used for early recovery, such as steps to revive agriculture, provide tele-communications and cash for work programme. The January 22 Haiti earthquake had killed around 2 lakh 30,000 people in and around the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince.
