Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti today lead a pledge for clean Ganga and Open Defecation Free (ODF) villages in a ceremony at Chandrashekhar Azad Park in Allahabad today. The pledge was organized on the occasion of National Convention of Representative of Village Panchayats which are situated close to Ganga River. There are 1651 Gram Panchayats in five states including U.P, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Uttrakhand where more than four thousand villages are situated near to Ganga River.<br/><br/>Speaking on this occasions Ms Uma Bharti reiterated her commitment for clean Ganga and hoped that target for ODF viallges will be met in these gram panchayats as per the programme. <br/><br/>Later convention of panchayat representatives also began at Naini in Allahabad. In the convention, district collectors and senior officials of 52 districts, Panchayat represetatives , senior government officials of concerned ministries and departments are also taking part .
