Uma Bharti assures Maha govt of financial aid for drought hit regions

Union Water Resources Minister Ms. Uma Bharti today assured Maharashtra Government of providing financial support worth Rs. 7,188 crores (seven thousand one hundred and eighty eight crore rupees) for 132 projects in the suicide prone and drought hit regions of Vidarbha and Marathwada.<br/><br/>After meeting Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Road Transport Minister, Mr. Nitin Gadkari in Mumbai today, Ms. Bharti said that these projects will be treated as special projects. Out of these 132 projects, 98 are from Vidarbha and 34 are from Marathwada. <br/><br/>The minister today also agreed in principle to complete 26 Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme – AIBP projects under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojna in 60:40 ratio. Ms. Bharti has also agreed to consider another 67 drought prone area projects and Tapi Mega Recharge Project on priority basis.
