Water Resources Minister Uma Bharati has asked states to find long-term solution to tackle drought situation. Talking to reporters on the sidelines a function in New Delhi today, Ms Bharati has assured that the Centre will provide all help to tackle the calamity. She suggested that preparations can be made in advance to deal with the situation. The Minister said, she is aware of the crisis and observed that India is suffering due to climate change.<br/><br/>Ms Bharati said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked all central ministries to help the states in distress in whatever way possible. She said, India had witnessed tough times in the past but managed to survive due to its strong spirit. She said, India will overcome the current situation too.<br/><br/>Ms. Bharati also said, there is no dispute over river-linking project and the initiative will help use surplus water from flooding regions to dry ones. Another Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said that government is sensitive towards drought and is taking concrete steps to provide permanent solutions.<br/><br/> He said, Centre is monitoring the drought-hit states and has released relief funds to the states. He said, the Centre has also raised the budgetary allocation for irrigation schemes this fiscal and working with the state governments to find solutions for reducing the impact of drought.
