In Assam, the banned ULFA has decided to hold unconditional talks with the Centre for the first time in its 31-year-long struggle. The much-awaited talks will be held in New Delhi on Thursday. Disclosing this in Guwahati yesterday, ULFA leader Sasadhar Choudhury said the decision to hold talks with the Centre was taken at the executive committee and the General Council meetings this week and that there was no split in its ranks on the issue. He said ULFA is yet to select its leaders to participate in the talks. Sasadhar Choudhury said that the group would like the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to be present during the talks as he represents Assam in Parliament.
