The Assam Chief Minister, Mr Tarun Gogoi has said that the banned extremist outfit, ULFA should follow the example of the now-disbanded Bodo Liberation Tigers and join the nation building bandwagon by abjuring violence. Speaking on a programme organized to mark the celebration of Eighth Bodoland day at Kokrajhar on Wednesday, Mr Gogoi said that as violence cannot solve any problem, the government is ready to solve the insurgency problem of the state by means of negotiation.He said that state government is committed to work for the development of areas under the Bodoland Territorial Council. The union home secretary, Mr Gopal Krishna Pillai while addressing the occasion has said that Government will set up more security establishments in Bodoland Territorial Council area to contain violence. Mr Pillai also assured to depute more troops in the BTC area as demanded by the BTC Chief,Mr Hagrama Mohilary to control violence. Expressing happiness as the concept of autonomy was functioning smoothly in BTC, he said in such a situation there is no point for demanding a separate state. The Union Home Secretary also assured to hold frequent review meeting of the situation in BTC area and also of proper implementation of Bodo accord.
