An eight member ULFA team led by Arbind Rajkhowa today met Home Minister P. Chidambaram in New Delhi today. They presented their charter of demands. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi also attended the meeting, which lasted nearly 40 minutes. Soon after the meeting Gogoi told reporters that it was a cordial meeting aimed at giving fresh impetus to peace in Assam. Asked about the charter of demand presented to the Home Minister by the ULFA leaders, Gogoi said he has not seen it and does not know what it contains. Ahead of talks, the leader of pro talk ULFA faction Rajkhowa said they have come with a positive approach and are hopeful about the talks. Yesterday, he had said in Guwahati that they want release of Anup Chetia now held in Bangladesh so that he is able to take part in the talks.
