ULFA attacks come down considerably: Assam Rifles DG

The Director General of Assam Rifles Lt. General Karan Singh Yadav has said that after the crackdown by the Bangladesh government on terrorists and insurgents of North East, the incidence of ULFA attacks have come down considerably. Briefing media in New Delhi on the 175th anniversary celebrations of the force, he said the forthcoming visit of the Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from Monday will further strengthen relations with India and will put further pressure on militant groups. <br/><br/>He said 50 percent of lower ULFA cadres are from across the borders and are not from Assam. He also said that 26 new Battalions of Assam rifles will be raised to check insurgency and drug trafficking from across the borders in the North East.
