Ukrainian President arrives in New Delhi on three day visit

President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych arrived in New Delhi last night on a three day state visit. The Ukrainian President is accompanied by a large official and business delegation.

After a ceremonial reception at the Rashtrapati Bhavan this morning, the visiting dignitary will hold delegation level talks with Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and will meet President Pranab Mukherjee.

He will also meet Opposition Leader Mrs. Sushma Swaraj, besides captains of trade and industry.

The visit marks the 20th anniversary celebrations of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Cooperation between India and Ukraine covers a wide range of areas including defence, Science & Technology, nuclear, space, economics and trade.

The Indo-Ukranian bilateral trade increased from around 139 million US dollars in 1992 to over 2,865 million dollars in the last fiscal.

On Tuesday, the Ukrainian President will visit Agra and later Bengaluru.
