Ukraine sends weapons grade uranium to Russia

Ukraine has sent the majority of its weapons grade uranium to Russia. According to media reports, the uranium was transported to Moscow yesterday by a special flight from the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkov. Interfax-Ukraine news agency quoting Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Voloshin reports, by removing its highly enriched uranium stockpile Ukraine is fulfilling its commitments made by President Viktor Yanukovych during a meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama in April. Mr. Yanukovych pledged to remove all of his country's highly enriched uranium within two years, with the majority moved to Russia by the end of 2010.
