Polling has begun in Ukraine for the country's first presidential election since the 2004 Orange Revolution, in which mass protests overturned the results of a fraudulent poll. There are 18 candidates in the fray, including incumbent President Viktor Yushchenko, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and opposition leader Viktor Yanukovich, the former prime minister. Nearly 36 million registered voters will exercise their franchise at 33,000 polling stations across the country. More than 3,000 international observers will monitor the election.<br/>Official results will be declared on January 27.
