U'khand set to get new CM today; Harish Rawat is front runner

Union Minister Harish Rawat, expected to become the new Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, reached Dehradun this morning from New Delhi.

Soon after his arrival, Mr Rawat met acting state party chief Yashpal Arya and Pauri Garhwal MP Satpal Maharaj, in a bid to ensure the smooth conduct of the Congress Legislative Party meeting.

The CLP meeting being held in the presence of central party observers Ambika Soni, Janardan Dwivedi and Ghulam Nabi Azad, is expected to finalise Mr Rawat's name as new Chief Minister, after which he would take oath at the Raj Bhawan.
