The Congress Legislative Party meeting to elect the new Chief Minister of Uttarakhand is in progress in the presence of central party observers Ambika Soni, Janardan Dwivedi and Ghulam Nabi Azad at Dehradun.
It is expected to finalise Union Minister Harish Rawat's name as new Chief Minister of the State. The new Chief Minister would thereafter take oath at the Raj Bhawan. Earlier, Mr Rawat reached Dehradun this morning from New Delhi.
Soon after his arrival, Mr Rawat met acting state party chief Yashpal Arya and Pauri Garhwal MP Satpal Maharaj, in a bid to ensure the smooth conduct of the CLP meeting. All Congress MLAs were present in the meeting.
