In Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna today announced 50 per cent reservation for women in Van Panchayat Sarpanch posts and made several other announcements for strengthening the Van Panchayats. The key announcements were made by the Chief Minister at a Van Panchayat Workshop held in Dehradun. He also announced State Insurance Scheme for volunteers working in Van Panchayats, marketing facilities for the produce of local people through Agriculture Marketing Federation and connecting Van Panchayats with MNREGA. Mr Bahuguna assured that steps would be taken for monitoring of Solar-Power and Wind-Power Projects through Van Panchayats and regularisation of Community Participation Fund available in various Departments by Van Panchayats.
