UK suspends accepting student visa applications at north India centres

UK Border Agency has temporarily stopped accepting student visa applications at its north India centres. Student visa application under Tier 4 of the Points Based System will not be accepted at visa application centres in New Delhi, Chandigarh and Jalandhar from Monday. <br/><br/>Briefing media persons in New Delhi, British Deputy High Commissioner to India Nigel Casey said there was an unexpected rise in the number of visa applications this year. He said as many 13,500 applications were received from students in 2009, which was a very high number as compared to previous years.<br/><br/>He said this is a temporary suspension and the UK Border Agency will begin accepting Tier 4 visa applications again as soon as possible. Visa application centres in Western and South India will remain open for Tier 4 visa applications.
