UK offers help to Pak in setting up counter-terrorism agency

Britain today offered to send experts to Pakistan to help it set up a National Counter-Terrorism Agency to bolster its campaign against extremism. Creating infrastructure for tackling terrorism has been an important part of discussions between the two countries, British Home Secretary Alan Johnson told a press conference he addressed along with his Pakistani counterpart Rehman Malik in Islamabad. He said, Britain is also keen to learn from Pakistani security forces, which have special expertise for conducting counter-terror operations in the region. Mr. Malik, on his part, made it clear that any British experts seconded to Pakistan would act only as trainers and would not be allowed to operate within the country.
