UK doubles development aid to Nepal

The United Kingdom has announced to double its development aid to Nepal within the next four years. The new operation plan from the Department for International Development (DFID) is to focus on four areas – inclusive wealth creation, governance and security, achieving development millennium goals and climate change and disaster risk reduction programs. The DFID Nepal Operational Plan 2011-2015 expects to create 2 lakh 30,000 jobs, out of which will be fifty per-cent for women, build and maintain 4,232 kilometers of roads, and lift 5 lakh 70,000 people out of poverty through forestry programmes among others.
