Several hundred people have been displaced and over 1,000 households are left without power as parts of Britain are in the midst of a major flood, causing damage to bridges and roads. Prime Minister Gordon Brown met the flood victims in Cumbria after England's wettest day on record swamped homes and swept away bridges. More rain is predicted across much of the UK and there are concerns it will hamper rescue efforts. There are 23 flood warnings in force across northern England, Scotland and Wales. About thirteen hundred homes across Cumbria were affected due to flood.
