Unique Identification Authority of India, UIDAI, has instituted an ‘Aadhaar Governance Award’ to reward District Collectors/Deputy Commissioners with Innovative Approaches Towards Leveraging Aadhaar Project. The award has been instituted to acknowledge the extraordinary and innovative work done by them in using the Aadhaar number to improve the service delivery in their respective districts for more transparent, efficient and effective governance. Director General and Mission Director of the UIDAI , Mr. R S Sharma,said that the Authority has started issuing Aadhaar numbers to the residents across the country and its implementation has gained momentum. He added, that it will also motivate the officials to improve service delivery to the intended beneficiary and make the administration of such schemes more transparent and efficient.
