UIDAI approves blueprint on new SIM re-verification modes

The Unique Identification Authority of India has approved the blueprint to operationalise new modes like OTP for Aadhaar-based SIM re-verification of existing subscribers from 1st of next month. <br/><br/>An official in the UIDAI said, the blueprint presented by telecom operators have been approved and will be implemented from 1st of December. <br/><br/>Last month, the government had announced three new ways to complete the process of linking mobile phone numbers with Aadhaar to enable existing subscribers to undergo SIM re-verification exercise from the comfort of their home. <br/><br/>As per the new rules, there will be three new methods to link the registered mobile number with Aadhaar. <br/><br/>They are OTP (One Time Password), App based and the IVRS facility. <br/><br/>These new methods will help subscribers to get their mobile number linked to Aadhaar without visiting the stores of the telecom companies. <br/><br/>For the ease of senior citizens and the people with disability and chronic illness, Department of Telecommunications has also recommended for the re-verification at their doorstep.
