<span style="color: #222222;">The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a list of institutions recommended for the status of Institutions of Eminence (IoE) by the government. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The institutions include, Delhi University, BHU, Hyderabad University and IIT Madras and Kharagpur. An official release said, the UGC made the recommendations on the report of the Empowered Expert Committee set up by the government under the chairmanship of N Gopalaswami.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' The recommendation for Jadhavpur University in Kolkata and Anna University in Chennai has been subjected to consultation with the respective state governments. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Among universities that received the UGC recommendation for issuing Letter of Intent (LoI) for the eminence status include Jamia Hamdard University in New Delhi, OP Jindal Global University in Haryana, Shiv Nadar University in UP, and VIT Vellore in Tami Nadu.&nbsp;</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' The move is part of a scheme of the HRD Ministry announced last year to select 20 IoEs — 10 public and 10 private that will enjoy complete academic and administrative autonomy.&nbsp;</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' The government will provide funding to public institutions with IoE tag but in case of the private institutions proposed as IoE, there will be no financial support, but they will be entitled for more autonomy as a special category Deemed University.</span><br />'' <br />'' &nbsp;
