UGC asks varsities to mention mode of learning in degrees

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked varsities and academic institutes offering Open and Distance Learning (ODL) courses to mention the mode of learning in degrees and certificates they issue to students. In a letter to all varsities, the UGC said, it has been noticed some institutions or universities offering education through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode have issued the degrees, mark-sheets, diplomas, certificates etc to students
without indicating the mode of delivery of the programme.

The Commission, in its meeting held on September 2 has decided that all Universities should reflect the mode of delivery of programme on all the documents issued to students
in order to erase ambiguities between conventional mode degrees with that of ODL mode degrees.
