Uganda's army has claimed that over 100 rebels were killed in its operations in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The rebels belonged to a Ugandan group, Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) who killed 14 UN peacekeepers earlier this month, considered as the deadliest attack on UN forces in 24 years. <br/><br/>A defence ministry spokesman General Richard Karemire said Ugandan forces launched air and artillery strikes in a joint operation with DR Congo's army against the group.<br/>In a statement, he said, eight camps were attacked which were historical strongholds of ADF in eastern DRC. The spokesman said, no Ugandan infantry troops were deployed in DR Congo nor suffered any casualties in the operation.
