Udta Punjab to release tomorrow, clears final hurdles from SC and HC

Punjab and Haryana High Court has dismissed two petitions filed against Udta Punjab film which was caught in censorship row. <br/><br/>The counsel for the film producer said in Chandigarh today that the high court has taken a decision that the film will be released tomorrow. He said, the vacation bench of Justice M Jeyapal dismissed the petitions filed against the release of the movie. <br/><br/>He said, the high court noted that the film did not glorify drugs. On June 13th, a petitioner had submitted that the film has portrayed Punjab in bad light. He alleged that the movie had done negative branding of Punjab and its people. <br/><br/>Earlier today, the Supreme Court had declined the plea filed by an NGO to stay the release of the movie. The Apex Court had asked the petitioner to approach Punjab & Haryana High Court. <br/><br/>The NGO had moved the Apex Court yesterday challenging the Bombay High Court order on the film. The Bombay High Court had earlier cleared the release of the movie.
