The Maharashtra government led by Uddhav Thackeray is mulling the time is right to impose another lockdown across the state. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and other senior cabinet members held a meeting today. It was mainly to discuss the need for stricter lockdown amidst the rising COVID caseload in the state especially in three districts including Amravati, Yavatmal and Akola.<br />''<br />''After maintaining a steady graph, Maharashtra has been now witnessing a surge in the COVID-19 cases. 4,787 fresh positive cases were reported in the state yesterday which was also the highest one-day count this year.<br />''<br />''AIR Correspondent reports, speaking to reporters after meeting with CM Thackeray on overall COVID situation across the state Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said, 'The Chief Minister has held meetings with the administrative officials of Amravati, Yavatmal and Akola districts and has taken stock of the situation there regarding the increasing corona infection caseloads in last few days.<br />''<br />''He stated that the government would soon take a concrete decision in this regard. Pawar also said that if there arises a need, the government will also consider a rule on lockdown in certain select districts. Pawar also noted that till January end, the recovery rate of patients discharged from hospital was higher. <br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Earlier, CM Uddhav Thackeray in his address to people warned of stricter action if COVID-19 norms are not followed.
