In Nepal, the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (maoist) and the Nepali Congress on Thursday continued their efforts to woo the other political parties to support their candidate to lead the next government. The two parties have agreed the need to form a consensus government. The UCPN (maoist ) on Thursday met with the CPN-UML while the Nepali Congress held a meeting with the Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM) in Kathmandu.CPN-UML leader Bhim Rawal said that the Maoist should come up with concrete proposal on the peace process and the integration of maoist combatants. The Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha urged the Nepali Congress and the Maoist to hold talks and decide on a single candidate to lead a national government . MJF-L Chairman Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar said that there is no alternative to a national consensus government and assured that SLMM is ready to help establish it. The Maoist has named Baburam Bhattarai as their candidate to lead the National Consensus government, while the Nepali Congress has put forth Sher Bahadur Deuba.AIR correspondent reports, with the deadline looming large on selecting a consensus Prime Minister, the two main parties continued their efforts for forming the government. While the parties say that a national government is the need of the hour as three majority government since the election in 2008 has failed till now, both the Maoist and the Nepali Congress are claiming that they should lead the government. The parties have till Sunday to decide who will be the next Prime Minister.
