Uber rape case: Accused driver Shiv Kumar Yadav convicted

Uber cab driver Shiv Kumar Yadav has been convicted by a Delhi court of raping a 25-year-old woman executive in his taxi last year. <br/><br/>Court convicted the driver for offences of endangering woman's life while raping her, abducting and criminally intimidating her. <br/><br/>The court is likely to pronounce the quantum of punishment on Friday. Yadav faces a maximum of life imprisonment as punishment.<br/><br/>The incident took place on the night of 5th December last year when the victim, a finance executive working in Gurgaon, was heading back to her home at Inderlok. The accused driver was arrested two days later from Mathura and is currently in judicial custody.<br/><br/>Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja had on 7th of this month, reserved the verdict after concluding hearing final arguments from both the sides in the case. <br/><br/>Special Public Prosecutor had said that an accused can be convicted on the basis of sole testimony of the victim if it is trustworthy. <br/><br/>He had said there was sufficient evidence on record to hold Yadav guilty in the case and none of the 28 prosecution witnesses had spoken contrary to the police case.
