UAE and US on Wednesday signed further MoU concerning cooperation in Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy. According UAE’s official Emirates news agency, UAE Minister of State for Foreign affairs, Dr. Anwar Gargash, and the US Secretary of Energy, Steven Chu signed an implementation arrangement concerning information exchange and cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy. It was signed in Abu Dhabi today between UAE Foreign Ministry and US Department of Energy.The Implementing arrangement establishes a framework via which US Department of Energy through its National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) would cooperate and support UAE competent authorities involved in the development of peaceful nuclear energy sector. The UAE has recently awarded a contract to a consortium of Korean companies to build the first four nuclear power reactors. The UAE has concluded multiple bilateral cooperation agreements for cooperation in the development of peaceful uses of nuclear energy including a recent cooperation agreement with US Government.
