The United Arab Emirates, UAE, has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a security checkpoint in the northern Sinai city of al-Arish in Egypt yesterday, that had resulted in the killing of seven security personnel and a civilian while wounding others.<br/><br/>In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said, the UAE expresses its vehement condemnation of such criminal acts as well as its firm and principled rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism. It further stressed that this terrorist act is in complete violation of all human and religious principles and values. UAE also reaffirmed its strong support and firm stand with Egypt against these serious crimes. <br/><br/>An attack by a truck loaded with explosives on a checkpoint in the city of El-Arish in Egypt's northern Sinai has killed at least seven policemen and one civilian yesterday. According to Police officials a suicide bomber drove the truck packed with explosives into El-Matafe checkpoint and armed men then opened fire on the security post. <br/><br/>Egypt's interior ministry said in a statement that security forces were able to "fight off" the attack, killing five assailants and wounding three others. Six policemen and six civilians have also wounded. There has been no immediate claim of responsibility for the truck bombing.
