The UAE Armed Forces are observing its 41st Unification Day Anniversary, which represents the integration of the Armed Forces of all the seven Emirates and reflects the principles outlined by the founding fathers of the UAE on consolidating the unity, development and progress.<br/><br/>On this occasion, the leaders of UAE while expressing pride in their Armed Forces, have reiterated their commitment to fight against all forces of terrorism and extremism.<br/><br/>President of UAE Sheikh Khalifa said that the capabilities of the Armed Forces will be further developed to enable them to discharge their national defence duties and their universal humanitarian mission to safeguard international peace and security.<br/><br/>On 6th May, 1976, the President of the Federal Supreme Council issued the historic resolution on the unification of the UAE Armed Forces.<br/><br/>It called for the unification of the land, naval and air forces under one central command, The General Command of the Armed Forces, to support the newly born Union in 1971, and to strengthen its stability, security and achieve the full integration of state institutions.<br/><br/>The importance of creating a strong and unified armed force in a geographically volatile region was first recognized by its visionary leader late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahayan.<br/><br/>The UAE Armed Forces today is well integrated force equipped with the modern weapon system and have often supported US and other western nations in combating the extremist forces in Libya , Iraq, Syria and other parts of the world.<br/>
