UAE accuses Qatar of intercepting UAE civilian aircraft

UAE has accused Qatar of intercepting a UAE civilian aircraft and called it a flagrant violation of international laws and conventions and a serious threat to the safety of civil aviation.<br/><br/>Qatari fighter planes have intercept an UAE civilian aircraft during a routine flight to Manama in a flagrant threat to civil aviation safety and in a clear violation of international law, the UAE General Authority of Civil Aviation (GCAA) said in a statement in Abu Dhabi. <br/><br/>The statement said that GCAA received a message from one of the UAE's national carriers on Monday morning that one of its aircraft on a flight to Manama on a normal route had been intercepted by Qatari fighters. <br/><br/>According to GCAA , the flight was a regular, scheduled service, on a known flight-path that met all the required and internationally recognized approvals and permits.<br/><br/>UAE along with Saudi Arabia , Bahrain and Egypt in June 2017 had severed all diplomatic and economic ties with Qatar accusing it of funding terror organizations and destabilizing the region , a charge which Doha denies. The simmering tensions with Qatar has continued since then .<br/><br/>The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain has strongly condemned the Qatari fighter jets intercepting the civilian aircrafts which were on their regular daily scheduled routes.
