The US Supreme Court has rejected a bid by President Donald Trump to apply his travel ban to people whose grandparents and other relatives live in the United States. <br/><br/>The court ruled yesterday that people whose grandparents, grandchildren and other relatives live in the US will also be exempt from the travel ban on visitors from 6 mostly Muslim countries. The latest court battle stems from the Supreme Court's ruling last month to partially reinstate Trump's controversial ban.<br/><br/>The administration put the measure in effect while exempting "close relatives" of US residents from the ban. It listed parents, spouses, and children as close relatives but not grandparents and grandchildren.<br/><br/>On the 13th of this month, the federal district court in Hawaii ordered the government to expand the scope of close relatives to include grandparents, grandchildren and other relatives. <br/><br/>This had prompted the administration to appeal to the Supreme Court to overturn the court decision in Hawaii. Trump's travel ban has drawn criticism in the US and abroad for discriminating against Muslims. <br/><br/>The Supreme Court plans to hear full arguments on the travel ban starting in October this year.
