U.S. Stocks Retreat as Caution Rises Pre-Employment Data; Dow Down 0.11%, Nasdaq Slips 0.84%, S&P 500 Dips 0.54%

U.S. stocks ended lower on Monday, interrupting last week's rally, as investors turned cautious ahead of employment data due this week that could alter expectations that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates early next year.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.11 percent, the Nasdaq Composite Index lost 0.84 percent and the S&P 500 was down by 0.54 percent.
