U.S. alliance is vital for Japan's defence : Naoto Kan

Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan has vowed to deepen Japan-U.S. alliance saying the alliance is the axis of Japan's foreign policy. In his first policy address today, Mr. Kan said the Japan-U.S. alliance is not only vital for Japan's defense, but also an asset for the peace and stability of the Asia-Pacific region. On the relocation of the U.S. Marine Corps' Futenma Air Station in Okinawa Prefecture, Kan reiterated that he will honor the agreement reached late last month with Washington.
