U-19 World Cup: Afghanistan defeats Australia by 36 runs

Australia were left on the brink of elimination at the Under 19 World Cup after they went down to a shock 36-run defeat to Afghanistan at Abu Dhabi.Afghan Under-19s won the toss and set a target of 254 runs in 49.2 overs after electing to bat first. Thanks to three half centuries from their top order batsmen Mohammad Mujtaba 75, Ihsanullah 63 and Hashmatullah Shaidi scoring 57 runs to set a target of 254 runs for the Australian Under-19 cricket team.Afghan bowlers restricted Australian batsmen for 217 runs in 48 overs. Their pace bowlers Abdullah Adil 4 for 45 and Sharafuddin Ashraf 3 for 55 took seven wickets between them to skittle out Australia. Batsman Mohammad Mujtaba was elected as the man of the match.Australia are now left with a win-or-go-home game on Wednesday against the group leaders in Pool B, Bangladesh.
