In China, at least 54 people were killed and 42 went missing in massive floods and landslides triggered by typhoon Fanapi. This is said to be the strongest storm to hit China this year. The typhoon has affected more than 1.16 million people in south China's Guangdong Province. The flood control headquarters said in a statement about one lakh people in low-lying areas have been evacuated.The provincial government is using helicopters to air drop relief material to victims. Around four thousand homes were destroyed.
