In Uttar Pradesh two minister of Mayawati government, Family Welfare Minister Babu Singh Kushwaha and Medical and Health Minister Anant Kumar Mishra have resigned. The Governor BL Joshi has accepted the resignation of both the ministers. Talking to media persons Cabinet Secretary of the state Shashank Shekhar Singh told at Lucknow that both the ministers have resigned owning moral responsibility for the involvement of the health and family welfare directorate employees and doctors in alleged financial irregularities. AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that resignation of both the ministers, very close to Chief Minister Mayawati and Chairman of UP Advisory Council Satish Misra, is a fall out of brutal murder of then CMO family welfare at Lucknow Dr. BP Singh. His predecessor Dr. Vinod Kumar Arya was also murdered six month earlier. The state government has also removed Principal Secretary Family welfare Pradeep Shukla with immediate effect and also transferred CMO Medical and Health Lucknow Dr A.K. Shukla. The government has also abolished the post of CMO Family Welfare and the CMO would act as a nodal agent of all Health schemes. The government had created CMO FW in the month of May last year and with the abolition new post the system prior of May 5, 2010 would exist. The opposition parties in the state have termed the resignation of both the minister a drama and said only CBI probe could bring the truth of Murder of Dr. Singh. Leaders of Samajwadi Party, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress were unanimous in their reaction saying that the resignation of ministers was just eyewash. They have said the Chief Minister Mayawati should tender her resignation taking moral responsibility in breakdown of law and order in the state.
