In Assam, two hardcore ULFA militants were killed during an encounter with a joint group of the State Police and the CRPF at Goalpara this morning. The encounter took place when the motor cycle-borne militants were asked to stop by the security men on duty at a signal point near the Goalpara Railway Station at five this morning. The miscreants opened fire on the security personnel and tried to flee taking advantage of the jungle area. When securitymen retaliated both the militants died on the spot. One nine mm pistol, a Chinese grenade and 10 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the spot of the encounter.
