In Pakistan, two soldiers were killed on Sunday when a paramilitary patrol team was hit by a roadside bomb in Jamrud in the northwestern Khyber region on the Afghan border. Security officials said another a soldier was killed yesterday by suspected militants on suspicions of spying against them in the same region. In yet another incident, five militants were killed in a clash with ethnic Pashtun Taliban in the North Waziristan tribal region on the Afghan border on Sunday. Officials have blamed the militants for a spate of major attacks in Punjab province in recent months. Many of the militants are believed to have joined with the Pashtun Taliban in the lawless tribal areas in the northwest.
