Two Omicron cases detected in Puducherry

Two positive cases of Omicron have been reported in the Union Territory of Puducherry. AIR correspondent reports, the Health Director Dr Sriramalu said that healthcare authorities had sent 90 samples for genome sequencing and got the results of two samples. The rest are yet to be declared.  <br />''<br />''The sample for the genome sequencing report sent to the Indian Sars COVID 2 genomics consortium, Bangalore on 8 December 2021. Among the 2 cases one patient is 80 years old male admitted for covid positive on 3rd December 2021 and discharged. He is fine now. 2nd patient is a 20-year-old girl found covid positive on 7th December 2021 and she is also fully recovered he added.<br />''<br />''Further Dr Sriramalu said, Now the health department is in the process of tracing the contacts, to determine the source of the infection and to break the chain.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan instructed the officials to take all measures for strict enforcement of COVID guidelines to prevent possible surge in cases during the forthcoming festivals. </span><br />
