Two NDFB extremists killed in Assam

In Assam, two extremists belonging to the outlawed National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) were killed in a gun battle with security forces today.<br/><br/>According to police, the fighting took place at Dadangiri village in Chirang district. Acting on specific intelligence report that a group of NDFB extremists were taking shelter in a house, a joint force of army and state police conducted a raid in the area.<br/><br/>The extremists challenged the joint team of the security force and soon there was a fierce gun fight. In the encounter which lasted over an hour, two NDFB extremists were killed on the spot and probably a few of them managed to escape.<br/><br/>A large cache of weapons and explosives, including two pistols, detonators, and grenades were recovered from the dead extremists.<br/><br/>During the past three months, at least 20 NDFB extremists were killed in separate encounters in the state.
