Two NATO soldiers killed in Afghanistan

In Afghanistan, two NATO soldiers, a Canadian and a Briton, were killed in roadside blasts in separate incidents while two guards of pro-government leaders were killed in a blast in northern part of the country. A NATO statement said that British soldier was killed on Tuesday in Helmand province while the Canadian soldier died on Wednesday in a similar attack in the neighbouring province of Kandahar. More than 500 international soldiers, with more than 400 from the United States and Britain, have been killed in the Afghan war so far this year.Meanwhile, an anti-Taliban militia commander survived a roadside bombing on Thursday in Northern Province of Kunduz but two of his bodyguards were killed in the blast. Provincial police chief said Selaab Khan was leaving his house when a bomb hidden inside a drainage system was remotely detonated. Khan blamed Taliban militants, who have been expanding their presence in the province, for the attack. He said the militants had tried to kill him two other times in the past two months but their plots were unsuccessful.
