In Kashmir valley two militants and three jawan of the army were killed as forces intercepted a heavily armed group of militants on the line of control in north Kashmir. Defence sources told AIR that a fierce of gun battle occurred in Nowgam sector in Baramulla district after midnight.

The forces said when alert troupes noticed the movement of militants from across the line of control, they challenged them resulting in a gun battle that lasted for several hours. The search operation in the area was going on today to flush out any militants who may have sneaked into this side of line of control.
