In Jammu & Kashmir, the cordon and search operation ended today late afternoon leading to killing of two militants and injuring one SOG man in an encounter near an orchard in South Kashmir's Ratnipora area of Pulwama district. Unconfirmed reports said that one civilian injured in the firing incident at Padgampora Pulwama has been shifted to Srinagar hospital for advanced treatment. <br/><br/>A Police spokesman said two local militants of Lashkar e Toiba (LeT) outfit Showkat Ahmad Lone and Gulzar Ahmad Bhat were killed in a 20 hour cordon & search operation in South Kashmir's Rakh Lajura Ratnipora area of Pulwama district. Yesterday, one Special Operations Group (SOG) man was also injured in the initial gunfight. The joint cordon operation of Army and SOG of J&K Police to flush out suspected militants, was underway in the area since last evening. <br/><br/>An Army spokesman said that one rifle and pistol were recovered from the encounter site. Clashes broke out between protesters and security forces in several areas adjacent to the encounter area in Pulwama district. Normal life remained affected in Pulwama, Kakapora and Ratnipora areas. Pertinently, a local top Lashkar militant Talib Hussain Shah was killed in a brief encounter with security forces on August 06 at Astan Mohalla, Kakapora in South Kashmir's Pulwama district.

One Special Operations Group (SOG) man is also reported to have been injured when a fierce gun battle broke out yesterday evening in Rakh Lajura near Ratnipora area. <br/><br/>The slain militants reportedly belong to the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit. The joint operation of Army, CRPF and Special Operations Group of J&K Police to flush out suspected militants was underway since last evening in the area.
