Two Maoists arrested in Jharkhand

In Jharkhand, two hard-core Maoists, including one wanted for the killing of police officer Lucas Tete, have been arrested. The arrest follows a joint operation by the district armed police and para-military forces in Giridih district on Thursday. District SP said that Sahdeo Majhi alias Parvez and Saket alias Sanjiv were arrested from Belatand village under Tisri police station.Majhi, a resident of Bhanderi in Hazaribagh district, was wanted by the Bihar and Jharkhand police in several cases including Lakhisarai Jail break and Tete’s killing in 2003 and the Chilkari massacre in 2007. He said that Majhi was also an accused in the killing of Munger Police Superintendent, Surendra Babu a few years ago. The SP said that acting on leads provided by the two, a bunker on the Bihar-Jharkhand border was busted with the help of Bihar police. The police recovered a rifle, 276 detonators, 100 gelatin sticks, 90 cartridges of Ak-47, an Insas rifle and three can-bombs from the spot.
