In Jammu and Kashmir two Lashkar-e-Taiba militants were today killed in an encounter with security forces in the border district of Poonch.According to official sources acting on a tip-off on the presence of militants, the Army and the police last evening launched a search operation in 'Chamrera Ki Gali' forest area of Bafliaz in Surankote tehsil. Seeing the patrol party militants opened fire which was retaliated leading to the encounter. However, due to darkness the operation was halted last night and was resumed early this. In the ensuing gun battle, two militants were gunned down. Two Chinese grenades, one UBGL, two pouches, two AK magazines were recovered from the slain LeT militants whose identity is yet to be ascertained.
