Two killed in Bahrain

In Bahrain, two people were killed this morning when security forces moved in to clear protesters camped out in a central Manama square. The spokesman for the main Shiite opposition group, Al-Wefaq movement Matar Matar said that at least another 50 protesters injured, of whom 10 are in a serious condition. Reports say, protesters fled the square as a helicopter flew overhead. Demonstrators were camping out in the pearl square in central Manama overnight and their protest entered in to fourth day today. They are calling for sweeping political reforms. Earlier, two people were killed during clashes with security forces and country’s king Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa had announced an investigation into the those deaths and offered his condolences to the men's families. Bahrain is the long-time home to the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet and arguably the Middle East anchor of U.S. defence strategy. Meanwhile demonstrations have also been reported in Yemen and Libya. In Iran two people were killed in clashes during demonstrations on Monday and country’s chief prosecutor has said that action will be taken against those responsible. In Iraq, three people were killed and dozens injured in clashes between protestors and security forces yesterday in the southern city of Kut. Protestors were calling for the removal of corrupt officials.
