Two hundred pre-school centres to open in Varanasi

In Uttar Pradesh, two hundred pre-school centres will be opened in Varanasi under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, SSA to prepare children for entering formal education system. <br/><br/>These centres will be opened in the existing primary schools and will be run by the younger teachers or Shiksha Mitra, the educational volunteer. <br/><br/>Official sources told AIR Gorakhpur correspondent that the initiative is a part of Early Childhood Care and Education under SSA. Additional infrastructure facilities for running the centres will be created in the primary schools located in rural and urban areas. <br/><br/>The learning in the centres will be free of cost for all students with free books and games kits. The emphasis would be on admitting more girl students to these centres.<br/><br/>A grant of 7,500 rupees will be given to each centre. AIR correspondent reports that 200 such centres have already come up in the district during last fiscal.<br/><br/>
